Well what a surprising start to the year that was. I wasn’t expecting to get straight on with a poetry event in January but ‘hey ho there you go’ I say.
The Southern Maltings in Ware is such a great venue for spoken word and events of music etc. The night was full of surprises and entertainment. It rained then came the snow.
There was poetry and storytelling and I managed to perform some poems as well as a crowd participation piece, which was a fun challenge and managed to get a few laughs and encouragement to do more of the same.
I will keep you posted if there are anymore events like this in the coming months.
Well February is here and it’s that time of year for all the ‘roses are red poems’ to appear on cards across the country. It’s quite an event for writers etc. as it requires an element of inspiration and creativity to get the right message to a loved one.
In my book Lettermorphosis, I have a couple of poems that are love inspired and one of my favourites is called ‘Loveland’.
Here is an example, to get you in the mood…
The Angel of Love flew past my window today
She took my heart and led me away
Wrapped me in her wings
Held me softly by the hand
Took me to a place
She called it Loveland
I hope you all have a great time this month. Get writing and enjoy February – spring is just around the corner, waiting to emerge!
