August saw Hertford Castle host their open air cinema, which proved hugely popular once again. Keen movie-goers quickly snapped up tickets for Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and Mama Mia, the latter of which sold out completely!
Warm-up singers set the mood each night with an entertaining medley of pop hits. Kudos to the enthusiasts who showed up to Mama Mia in full ABBA-themed get-up (I was hoping to see more ‘fearsome buccaneers’ on the second night but the ABBA fans definitely had the edge clothing wise!).
Food, drink and ice-creams were on offer throughout both evenings, although many people opted to bring their own picnics. (For ‘picnics’, read ‘banquets’!)Tables, laden with impressive three-course feasts, wine and even faux candles covered the lawn, as everyone settled down to enjoy their chosen film.
The warm, summery atmosphere lasted late into the evening and people even got up to dance during the end credits of Mama Mia.
A great time was had by all and I’m already looking forward to the announcement of next year’s film choices…
