A brand new dance academy has opened, just a stone’s throw from Hertford and it’s already proving popular with dancers of all ages!
The Kristie Louise Dance Academy (KLDA) holds classes for ages two and a half to 18 in ballet, tap, modern theatre, jazz and national dance. There’s also a very popular range of adult classes available for those who are returning to dance after a break, or who just fancy giving it a try.
Classes are held in Tonwell Village Hall, near Bengeo, where you’ll receive a warm welcome from school Principal and teacher, Kristie Louise Seeley.
Kristie has been dancing since the age of three. In 2008 she successfully auditioned for a place at the University of Chichester, where she trained in contemporary, contact improvisation and ballet.
She later completed her teacher training at Penny Meekings – The Dance College, where she achieved her Advanced 2 Vocational ISTD qualifications and in 2016, became an Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (DDE) in imperial ballet, modern theatre, tap dance and national dance. She most recently taught at The Sophie Edwards School of Dance, before setting up her own academy.
KLDA plans to host an annual show, where dancers of all ages can take to the stage, as well as yearly performances at Hertfordshire’s summer fetes. For those wanting to certify their dance accomplishments, the school also offers ISTD exams.
Barbara Morris has been attending Kristie’s Monday night adult class for over four years and told us how much she enjoys every lesson:
“After a hard day at work and no matter what mood I’m in, as soon as I get to dancing I can relax and enjoy myself. I’ve been doing tap, jazz and national dance and really enjoy it all. It’s a very social class and we always enjoy a laugh. Learning dances from different countries in national is always good fun. Kristie also teaches my 11 year old daughter for ballet, tap, modern, national and groovers. She enjoys dancing with Kristie and has made some good friends.”
KLDA offers a free trial class, so why not pop along and give it a try?
